For Spring/Summer 2019, adidas by Raf Simons explores the aesthetic clash between ’70s glam rock and mid-century haute couture – dual inspirations of the Belgian designer.
The hi-top, lace-up RS DETROIT HIGH is architected on the foundation of the Detroit Runner, a staple of the range. The Runner’s thick tread outsole and curvilinear midsole remain, while its canvas upper is traded for opaque, rubberized plastic—a nod to the fetish elements of glam rock.
On the boot’s outer shaft, Simons applies a “punkette” patch featuring a black-and-white photograph of an anonymous woman within an art nouveau frame. Beneath it, a label printed with “Raf Simons Antwerp SS 2019” recalls the heyday of haute couture.
RS Detroit High is now available in store in grey color way. Find it in sizes 7, 8, 9 and 10, price 450€.
